Students' Learning Beyond the Curriculum

Students' Learning Beyond the Curriculum

The summer holidays provide an excellent opportunity to take students’ learning beyond the confines of normal lessons and curriculum. With this in mind, this year's Summer Learning Booklet 2018 has now been launched.

This year's booklet contains over 50 independent learning ideas, suggested by Heads of Departments, arranged according to subject. Activities include films to watch, books to read, exhibitions to visit, websites to explore and many more interactive activities. Most activities have been compiled with Year 7-10 students in mind although many of them will appeal to siblings, parents and grandparents!

Whilst the summer break is first and foremost an opportunity for rest and recuperation, we hope that pupils will find the time to do at least one of the activities from the booklet. Studies have shown that independent learning can lead to improvements in the following areas: academic performance, motivation, confidence, creativity and a student's ability to manage their own learning.

In recognition of students' efforts, there will be a small prize for all girls that undertake an activity so why not get involved and share your Summer Learning Activities via Twitter @Marist_School or via our Facebook page 'The Marist School'
