Senior House Fashion Show

Senior House Fashion Show

On Thursday 17 October, Senior pupils put on a dazzling fashion show showcasing their creativity and design skills.

Before pupils left for the summer holidays, each year group were given a particular theme by A Level Fashion and Textiles student Caitlin.Once school started back in September, girls independently worked on their outfits/items in their houses.

In the two weeks before the show, excitement heightened and the Fashion and Textiles room was a hive of activity as well as being the most competitive classroom in school. The girls made lots of decisions about who would be walking down the catwalk and how they could model their creations. The girls also found out there would be two Final Year students from The London College of Fashion, Rebecca Faerber and Megan Botting, who would be judging alongside Mellony Campbell. Mellony, who use to be a model offered to help choreograph the girls and help with the music.

On the day of the Fashion Show, Year 7 pupils opened the show showcasing their altered and re-designed t-shirts and walking to “Marilyn Monroe” by Pharell. Year 8 walked down the catwalk to “She's In Fashion” by Suede; the girls had produced bags, masks, hats, belts with some items even including LEDs which gained a special mention from the judges.

'Plastic Fantastic' was the theme for the Year 9 girls who walked down the catwalk to Moves” by Snoop Dog & Olly Murs wearing rubbish bags that had been turned into dresses. Year 10 girls created designs on fabric that were bright and colourful and linked in with their House Saint. Alongside this, they also did their own hair and make-up and they walked down the catwalk to Lost In Japan” (Remix ZEDD version) by Shawn Mendes.

It was 'Festival Fever' for the Year 11 girls as they danced around to “These Boots Are Made For Walkin” by Nancy Sinatra dressed up in ready to party outfits for Reading Festival. A special mention goes to Georgia who surprised everyone by wearing a tent! 'Wearable Art' was the theme for the Sixth Form girls who created dresses that were flamboyant and certainly unique as they walked down the catwalk to "Walking Away" by Craig David. Their creations included rolled up paper from Vogue magazines, CDs, aeroplanes and fabric flowers.

As pupils took to the catwalk in front of fellow pupils, staff and Year 5 and 6 pupils from the Preparatory Phase, our team of judges had a tough decision to make. The Judges were impressed with all the girls' creativity and imaginative ideas.

Congratulations to the winning house, Chanel, with second place awarded to Fisher. Thank you also to our judges Mellony Campbell alongside London College of Fashion final year students, Rebecca and Megan.
