Lucy Campbell (Year 13) GB Open Water Championships

2013-14

Lucy continues to excel in the pool and her 2013-14 season has proven to be equally successful if not more so than her 2013.

In March 2013 Lucy was awarded funding by UKSport in recognition of her sporting potential. Lucy will receive World Class Performance Podium funding which is given to those athletes who are within touching distance of Olympic Squad selection for either 2016 or 2020.

2011-12

Alongside her GCSE commitments, Lucy Campbell, has had a phenomenal sporting year.

Lucy competed at the British Gas Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Centre, venue of London 2012 Olympic Swimming events. Following her success at this national event she was selected by British Swimming for the LEN Cup in Israel in May . 

In April Lucy competed in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, representing Scotland's Youth Gold Squad in the 200m,400m and 800m. 

In May Lucy represented the England East Schools Team and took part in the Sainsbury's School Games at the London 2012 Aquatics Centre; she was also interviewed on BBC Breakfast and Daybreak and had the pleasure of meeting Olympic Gold Medallist Darren Campbell. At this event Lucy claimed a Scottish age group record in the 800m Freestyle in a time of 8.51.61, this time also gained her a silver medal.  

Later in May Lucy represented Team GB at the LEN Cup in Eiliat Israel . At this Open Age Group event Lucy was 3rd in the 10K Open Age Group, in a time of 2h03m12s.

The European Junior Open Water Championships took place in Kocaeli, Turkey 13-15th July 2012 and Lucy was once again representing Team GB this time in the 5K event. She was the first GB girl home and came 6th in her age group, just 20 seconds off the gold medallist. This fabulous performance earned her a place at the World Junior Open Water Championships in Canada in August.

In Late July Lucy took part in the National Youth Championships where she took Gold in the Open Water , silver in the 800m freestyle and a silver in the 400m freestyle too.

Lucy flew out to Canada for the World Junior Open Water Championships mid August and came 8th in her event. In September she attended the Senior European Open Water Championships in Italy where she came 6th in an event a number of years above her own age group.


Lucy Farrell (Year 13) England Synchro Squad

During 2012-13 Lucy Farrell, represented England as part of the National Development Squad for synchronised swimming.

As one of the top eight girls in her age group, she represented England at the Primorje cup in Croatia at Easter 2011 where they won a bronze medal and again at the Comen Cup in Italy in August 2011.

At the 2012 British Championships in March Lucy's team got a silver and bronze medal which was very well deserved. Individually Lucy came 5th in the duet, a fabulous result as it was her first year competing at this level!.


Crerar Antony (Year 11 ) GB Aerobic Gymnast

Crerar Antony, forms part of the British Aerobic Gymnastic Squad.

In June 2011 she competed in the French Open Competition and was awarded a Silver Medal, the highest colour medal awarded at that competition to anyone in the GB team.

In 2012 Crerar and her team mates also performed at the following events

At the Welsh Championships she was placed 5th in the individual competition  

The  French Open Championships where they were placed 3rd gaining a bronze medal

The British Championships where they gained a silver medal in the Group 1 Trio

At the World Championships in June the girls were 15th in their competition. A fabulous result for the young team which bodes well for next years season.

In February 2014 Crerar and her team were placed 1st at the Alex Strahern Cup, which is the first of three competitions leading up to qualifications for the World Championships in Mexico


Isadora Taylor (Year 11) GB Skiing

Izzy secured selection to the British Alpine Children’s Ski Team for 2 successive years, and has just been reselected for the 2014 season as well.She is currently competing in the English Championships in Austria (February 2014)

She represented Team GB at International races in Slovenia and Andorra competing in all 3 disciplines – Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G.

In 2012 Izzy attended the following national races;  The Welsh Championships in Switzerland, The English Championships in Italy and The Scottish and British Championships in France.

At the British Championships Izzy performed exceptionally well and she secured 3 podiums, racing in tough competition against a field of up to 70 girls.

She achieved a 2nd place in Giant Slalom, a 3rd place in Super G and was 2nd overall in the Championships!

In addition, Izzy and 2 other team members won the overall Best Girls Team.

We are delighted with the success she has achieved and so proud of her performances.

Izzy was recognised for her significant sporting success at our Sports Awards Evening in July 2012 and was awarded Elite Sportswomen of the Year award 2012.


Sophia Candappa (2003-2010) England Netball

Representation Level: England

Sophia Candappa attended the Marist from 2003-2010 and was our Sports Scholar when she was in the Sixth Form. She is currently studying Psychology at Loughborough University.

At just 15 years old she was selected for the England U17 Squad and has retained her position in the England Netball team squads since 2007.

In October 2011 she was awarded her first full International Cap when she toured Australia and New Zealand with the Senior Squad.

Olivia was selected for the National U16 Girls Programme 2009-2010.

Madeleine Gale (2003-2010) GB Aerobic Gymnast

Thea Cartwright (1997-2009) GB Gymnast

Emily Gale (2001-2009) GB Aerobic Gymnast

2008: Finished 7th overall in the Grand Prix French Open, the highest score ever attained at an international event by a GB senior aerobic gymnast

Claire Wright (1987-1996) GB Tramoplinist

Representation Level: Great Britain Senior National Team from 1993-2008

Holds 52 World and European medals including 3 individual World Cup Gold Medlas, and a World Championships Individual Bronze Medal
