Computing & ICT
Through ICT we aim to help the girls gain confidence and familiarise themselves with technologies that they will encounter in their everyday lives. All year groups benefit from working on networked Chromebooks and computers. The use of Chromebooks ensures that ICT within the Preparatory School can be mobile, flexible and outdoors when required.
In Upper Key Stage 2, Computing & ICT are taught by a specialist teacher. We have our own secure Network and wireless access acrosss the school as well as up to date resourses and software. Key Stage 2 have access to their own accounts with their own private login details as well as email addresses. Through Computing & ICT we encourage the girls to be independent thinkers as well as to use technology safely and responsibly.
The girls also enjoy library sessions where they have an opportunity for quiet reading as well as learning about how the library operates. The girls learn how to use the library decimal system and have responsibility for checking books in and out.
The girls from Years 3-6 are divided into the following houses: St. Bernadette, St. Catherine, St. Elizabeth Ann and St. Teresa. They meet regularly for assemblies, house meetings and compete against each other in inter house competitions such as singing, general knowledge, poetry, netball and rounders. Each house also organises a charity event to raise money for their chosen charity.
