Careers Speed Dating Event at The Marist

Careers Speed Dating Event at The Marist

Following on from the success of last year’s event, on Friday 25th January, Year 9 pupils participated in the school’s second annual Year 9 Careers ‘Speed Dating’ session.

Attended by a variety of local, national and international companies, the event provided pupils with an engaging insight into the world of work and information about the qualifications and skills required for specific jobs and careers.

The event began with short snapshot introductions from each of the companies present, followed by a ‘Speed Dating’ style question time in which pupils had the opportunity to network with representatives from organisations including Allianz Musical Insurance, Cantello-Taylor Recruitment, the Oracle Corporation and the Royal Surrey Hospital.

Speaking about the event, Mrs Liz Karakurt, Head of Key Stage 3 at The Marist, said, “The vision behind the Careers ‘Speed Dating’ event was to offer something unique to our Year 9 pupils as they prepare to make their GCSE option choices. Building on the success of last year’s event, our pupils have had the opportunity to receive valuable advice and support from a wide-ranging selection of companies and it is wonderful to see our pupils fully engaged and inspired.”
